GUERNSEY'S fishing industry could be in jeopardy if Sark introduces restrictions and 'grandfather rights' in its waters, some local fishermen are warning.

A consultation paper that has been sent to them suggests Sark might introduce new laws.

This legislation could see 'grandfather rights' being implemented, meaning Guernsey fishermen who have fished in Sark waters for many years could continue but anyone new to the industry would be banned.

Local fisherman and Seafresh Fishmongers proprietor Andy Le Prevost said that could have a serious impact on Guernsey's catch.
