Carre breaks record in victory
CHRIS CARRE went one better than a year ago as he won the 2010 Sportingbet Guernsey Marathon in a new course record.
CHRIS CARRE went one better than a year ago as he won the 2010 Sportingbet Guernsey Marathon in a new course record.
He took two minutes off the all-time record after a stunning comeback to beat Nuneaton's Garry Payne, who had been leading the race until the final few miles.
It was a perfectly paced run by Carre (pictured), who was around 90sec. off the pace for the majority of the course, until he started to eat away in the final quarter.
After the near-200 field had started from the Garenne Stand at Foote's Lane, Payne and another UK runner, Malcolm Muir, set the pace as they remained neck-and-neck all the way around to Vazon.
