DALE GARLAND is ruling himself out of his favoured 400m hurdles at the Commonwealth Games after a new injury.

Garland (pictured) has damaged an achilles tendon and was unable to run in Saturday's victorious Burton trophy inter-insular at Foote's Lane.

Being unable to even jog, his much anticipated clash with Canadian star Adam Kunkel and European Junior champion Lloyd Gumbs did not go ahead.

Garland still hopes to get fit enough to run the flat 400 and take his place in the 4 x 400m relay squad in Delhi.
