THE future of Guernsey golf is looking very bright following the first inter-insular win on Jersey soil in 30 years.

Sarnian captain Dave Rowlinson (pictured) admitted that it will be a long time before his smile fades following the weekend's 10.5-9.5 win over Jersey saw his side retain the trophy for the first time since 1981 and he added that the omens are good for continuing success.

'Guernsey have won six out of eight inter-island trophies this year and I am not sure if we have done the double in the junior and full inter-insular before, but if we have it was a very long time ago,' he said.

'We had not won at La Moye since 1969, so it was a tremendous achievement.'
