GUERNSEY'S cricket facilities are being recognised on a national and Continental level thanks to the work of the GCB head groundsman Alan Hamilton and his team.
Hamilton (pictured) was honoured, yet surprised and humbled, upon hearing that he had become the first person to win the European Cricket Council's 'Cricket Groundsman of the Year' award for a second consecutive year.
'Two in a row has never been achieved before so I was certainly taken aback,' he said.
'Initially I didn't really give it much thought until I found out there were 128 candidates. That's when I realised how prestigious it was. I guess it's an improvement on what we achieved last year that led to winning it again.
