'Excluding children does not solve problem, it postpones it'

A FACILITY that supports pupils with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties has helped more students stay in school or get a job, according to the Director of Education.
Derek Neale was speaking at a Scrutiny Committee hearing with department officials as part of a review into its exclusion policies.
The Link Centre was opened in November last year and supports children and their families outside the normal school environment.
It also provides lessons and specialist help for youngsters who have been excluded from school.
Mr Neale said students who had been excluded were already achieving better results than they had done under the old regime based at Granville House.
