PATIENTS at the King Edward VII Hospital enjoyed a seaside experience yesterday despite the pouring rain outside.

The Kinnersly/Saward day room was given a beach theme as an afternoon of entertainment was put on as part of Older People's Day.

Activity nurses Shirley Crowson and Pat Ferbrache organised the event, making the food and decorations to reflect the Guernsey of the past.

'We just needed to think of bygone times and it flowed from there,' said Mrs Crowson.

A beach was laid out complete with a dinghy, crab pots, chancres, shells, sand and nets.
