WINNING a gold medal in Delhi is a realistic target says bowls team manager Keith de la Mare.

'We don't want to come all this way for nothing, so we want to win,' explained de la Mare.

'We've had great success and have a good reputation in world bowls so we are all optimistic.

'That's our aim, but it's a bit early to suggest exactly how we'll do. There are some good teams out there who have all been practising hard.'

De la Mare says the team feel sufficiently prepared having been practising for six hours a day since arriving in India.

Floodlights at the venue mean they can also practise in the evenings.

'The venue and facilities are absolutely superb,' reckoned de la Mare.

'It's completely opposite to what the media have said. The staff have been so helpful and our accommodation is perfectly adequate.'
