Scouts just miss coin mile record
AROUND 80,000 20p coins were lined up across the Dave Ferguson Hall in 2 hours 25 minutes and 38 seconds yesterday.

AROUND 80,000 20p coins were lined up across the Dave Ferguson Hall in 2 hours 25 minutes and 38 seconds yesterday.
That meant Guernsey Scouts' bid to break the world record for laying a mile of coins had missed out by a little over nine minutes.
The record remains with Burnt Hickory Youth Ministry in Georgia, USA, who completed it in 2 hours, 16 minutes and 9 seconds.
But the Scouts, whose record attempt was a fund-raiser to allow Scouts from less affluent countries to attend the World Scout Jamboree in Sweden next year, will be back.
