Point keeps Rec at the top

VALE REC kept hold of top spot in Division One as they shared the spoils with Rovers in an open game at the Corbet Field last night.

In the past, encounters between the two sides have tended to be drab affairs, but both teams have improved and there were chances at either end to win it, although the home side will feel like they should have sewn the game up long before the frantic final minutes.

Despite fielding one of the more inexperienced teams in the island, Rec set out their stall well, with youngsters Danny Ozanne, Dave Hooper and Ross Benfield all turning in excellent performances.

They went toe-to-toe with an attacking Rovers side sent out by Mac Gallienne and it is they who really should have opened the scoring inside of two minutes.
