COBO VILLAGE CENTRE has been hit by thieves again who this time caused thousands of pounds-worth of damage but escaped with just £40 in cash and some cigarettes.

Speaking yesterday, owner Ralph Le Page (pictured) said he had lost count of the number of times his shop had been targeted.

There has been a string of break-ins at the store next to the chip shop.

The latest happened at the weekend, when thieves broke in through a window which faces the coast and caused £2,000-worth of damage. There was also a break-in in March, just three weeks after a previous one.

The weekend raid saw thieves escape with £40 in change from the till, about 10 packets of cigarettes and Airtel Vodafone phonecards.
