A NIGHTCLUB owner wants the trial late-night closure of the Lower Pollet made permanent.

For the past four weeks, police have shut the road between 11pm and 3am on Fridays and Saturdays in a bid to make the area safer.

Restaurants have complained about the system, claiming it has encouraged anti-social behaviour, but Fusion owner Adam Burroughs (pictured) said the trial, which ended on Saturday, had been a success.

'It has all gone really well and all the people I have spoken to have said what a brilliant idea it is,' he said. 'There hasn't been too many people gathering in the road and the most anti-social behaviour that I have seen is a driver complaining that he could not get through.'

As part of the temporary measures, the entrance to Fusion was moved from Le Truchot to the Lower Pollet.
