THE first Royal Air Force Lt-Governor in 25 years is set to take over from Sir Fabian Malbon early next year.
Air Marshal Peter Walker, 61 (pictured), has been selected to take on the role from next April.
'I am humbled and extremely honoured to be selected,' he said yesterday, following the Queen's approval of the appointment.
He has more than 30 years' experience in the RAF, and has served as a fighter pilot flying Phantom FGR2 and Tornado F3 aircraft. His final position was as director of the Joint Warfare Centre in Norway.
