TIM RAVENSCROFT returns to Hampshire today, having won himself a development contract and a place in the Royals' first-team squad for 2011.

The news will be a disappointment to south-coast neighbours Sussex, who had taken the island player aboard as part of their close links with Guernsey cricket.

Ravenscroft, 18 (pictured), is no stranger to The Rose Bowl having long been identified as a future county player and having starred in their side that won the ECB U17 County Cup final at Hove in 2007.

On that day the Sarnian, then just 15, hit a match-winning 100 and was seen as a player ahead of team-mates such as James Vince, who has recently made a big impression in the first team.
