Leale is tops of the Sarnian five

PAUL LEALE produced an excellent performance to reach the last 128 in last weekend's Winmau World Masters in Hull.

The tournament, televised live on the BBC, is one of the most prestigious in the world of darts and is the British Dart Organisation's second biggest annual tournament, after the Lakeside World Championships.

Leale (pictured) was one of four Sarnian men to qualify for the qualifying stages of the tournament, as well as Australian Kate Gifford, a full international who was representing the island.

But Leale was the only Guernsey representative to record a victory, overcoming Scotland's Duncan Hastings 3-1 in the last 256, after receiving a bye through the round of 512.
