ALDERNEY Shipping looks set to hold onto a vital contract.
The company is being recommended to retain the Alderney-Guernsey freight and passenger service - ahead of competitor Huelin-Renouf.
Both companies submitted tenders for the seven-year contract, which grants exclusivity rights on transporting freight and passengers between the islands.
Alderney States members are expected to back Alderney Shipping, after the company was chosen as preferred bidder by its General Services Committee.
Writing in November's Billet d'Etat, GSC deputy chairman Colin Williams (pictured) said: 'Both tenders were scored and then assessed by a panel comprising the chief executive, treasurer and harbour master, with the result that the General Services Committee recommends that, subject to the approval of the full States, Alderney Shipping Company Ltd be awarded the inter-island freight and passenger services contract.'
