Clubs saddened to see the demise of Athletics

THERE has been widespread sympathy across local football at the decision for Athletics to fold in only their second season since re-forming.

The club will merge with Rovers to form Rovers Athletics from next season, while they have withdrawn from all GFA competitions this season, with their results being expunged.

One club who are affected by that are Vale Rec, who have taken most points off Athletics this season (four), but are also the only side to have dropped points against them.

Their coach, Carl Le Tissier (pictured), admits that it is a case of wait and see to see how the merger works out.

'Obviously, we are disappointed that they have folded,' he said.
