AN EXCITING match saw Guernsey succumb to a narrow 3-2 defeat in Sunday's under-15 boys' hockey inter-insular at Foote's Lane.
The torrential rain stopped just in time to allow spectators to enjoy a thrilling and nail-biting match.
After a frantic start and a disallowed Jersey goal, Guernsey opened the scoring through Jordan Cameron, who finished off his own mazy dribble with a powerful, rising reverse stick shot from the top left of the D past the Jersey goalkeeper into the backboard at the right hand corner of the net.
It was then the Sarnian's turn to have a disallowed goal due to a foot infringement, but they were beginning to dominate the game and take control of the midfield.
The ever-improving Jack Relph worked solidly in the middle of the Guernsey defence making some crucial tackles and interceptions.
