Grammar parents give IB qualified welcome

PLANS to introduce the Baccalaureate have drawn a mixed response from parents.

Around 100 Year 10 pupils and parents gathered in the Grammar School hall for last evening's presentation on the new alternative to A-levels.

The International Baccalaureate, which will be available at the school from 2012 alongside A-levels, sees children study six subjects with at least three studied at a higher level.

Head teacher Jeff Smith began the presentation by saying the evening was not about selling the diploma to parents, but that it was an opportunity for them to find out more about what would be available to their children when they reached sixth form.
