A BLISTERING performance enabled Guernsey's under-17 side to retain the inter-insular hockey trophy with a stunning win over old foes Jersey at Foote's Lane.
After drawing the match in the sister island last year, Caroline Matthews and Jo Meredith's side triumphed with an 8-2 victory, including a four-goal lead by the halfway point.
Goals from Olivia Bourge, Nia Cuddihee, Nicole Hewlett and five for Frankie Stewart gave the Sarnians their stunning triumph, which was never really in doubt and which was made even more impressive due to the treacherous pitch.
And Matthews admitted she was delighted with the outcome, in what is her second year in charge and first win.
