The Sarnian beat No. 9 seed Carla Suarez Navarro 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 in the second round of the Auckland tournament, in which she has now won five singles matches having come through qualifying.
Her reward is a match against Chinese player Shuai Peng, the conqueror of third seed and former world No. 2 Svetlana Kuznetsova.
Peng, who beat the Russian 2-6, 6-4, 6-4, is ranked 72nd in the world.
