Stocks set to reopen after 16-month refurbishment

STOCKS HOTEL in Sark is just six weeks away from reopening after nearly 18 months of refurbishment work.

Paul Armorgie, whose family has run the hotel for just over 30 years, said he was eagerly anticipating Saturday 19 February so that customers could see and experience for themselves the improvements that have been made since it closed at the start of October 2009.

'It's the first major makeover Stocks has had since 1895, so you could say it was well overdue,' said Mr Armorgie.

'Our plan was always to maintain the ambiance of a 16th-century Sark farmhouse but to be able to bring the hotel up to modern standards.'
