AN INVESTIGATION by police in Scotland led to a local man's conviction for making 270 indecent images of children.

In the Magistrate's Court yesterday, 50-year-old Stephen Du Feu, pictured, was sent to prison for three months after admitting eight offences.

The court heard that Du Feu, who gave his address as temporary accommodation, was caught after he was found on the chat logs of a man convicted following an investigation by Lothian and Borders Police last year.

Advocate Lloyd Strappini said that his client, who has no previous convictions, had an inability to relate to other people and had sought solace in internet chat rooms.

'The people he was involved with led him astray by involving him in this kind of activity,' said Advocate Strappini.
