A PUBLIC consultation document on population policy should be released as soon as possible to end uncertainty surrounding the open market, industry figures have said.

The Population Policy Group is set to release the document, which will detail options for population management, of which the open market is one area, within the next few weeks but industry experts said the States should release it sooner.

They responded yesterday after Chief Minister Lyndon Trott and Population Policy Group chairman Bernard Flouquet gave assurances that the document contained no plans to scrap the open market - however both stopped short of saying no changes would be made to it.

'While the statements are welcomed I think the States needs to expedite the publication of this report so that the future proposals are known,' said Collas Day property Advocate Paul Nettleship.
