The supermarket was sold by Sandpiper CI to Waitrose for £23.9m. last year. The UK chain has also bought Checkers at Admiral Park.
Fewer than 300 customers came though the door between 7am and 2pm on the shop's last day, when ordinarily it would see about 1,200.
Sandpiper operations director Peter Clarke said they were surprised by the lack of customers.
