Deputy Shane Langlois has submitted a delaying motion to the department's report that seeks the compulsory purchase of a field that belongs to the Le Messurier family.
Public Services wants the field to enable runway end safety areas to be built and the subsequent extension of the airport boundary.
The States is already under pressure to make a decision on the purchase so that it can obtain planning permission and see work begin in the summer.
