HEATHER WATSON avenged her Michigan loss of last week by defeating one of France's rising stars in Memphis last night.
Watson, who won two matches just to qualify, defeated Stephanie Foretz Gacon 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 to reach the quarter-finals of the WTA tour event.
The Guernsey star hopes to make it five wins on the bounce at the $220,000 Cellular South Cup by beating Russia's Evgeniya Rodina (world No. 90) who sprung a surprise with a straight sets victory over American star Melanie Oudin, the No. 3 seed.
