A FIRST major final of the Ross Cameron era is North's after they dispatched rivals Vale Rec last night in the first of this season's FA Cup semi-finals.

It was certainly not a Grand Fort Road derby classic at the Track, but the chocolate-and-blues always looked like doing enough against a Rec side depleted on numbers, but still stronger than expected in the build-up.

Ryan-Zico Black was somewhat surprisingly added to the Rec FA Cup squad for the game, but it was his late sending-off for a tackle on Sam Cochrane that ultimately ended the yellows' resistance.

North will not be best pleased that they allowed their opponents a way back in to a game they were cruising at 2-0, although they will be satisfied with the way they controlled proceedings up to that point.
