Eggo and Lagerstrom the winter winners

A BIRDIE three at the 16th was a fitting way for the partnership of Petri Lagerstrom and Bobby Eggo to win the final of the Nova Investment Thursday Fourball League.

Both that duo and their opponents, Daniel Wallace and Chris Shields, had come through their respective league campaigns having lost just one match over the winter, making the final a tough one to call.

As expected, it started as a tight encounter at L'Ancresse with the first halved in par fours before Wallace's four nett three matched Eggo's birdie at the second.

However, it was Eggo who struck the first major blow of the match, knocking his tee shot at the short third hole to 6ft and with the opposition failing to make par, the hole was conceded.
