That is the opinion of Jersey Rugby Football Club chairman Bill Dempsey.
British governing bodies from four sports - rugby, tennis, football and cricket - are meeting this weekend to discuss the possibility of cutting funding for offshore teams.
Currently, travel for both Guernsey and Jersey rugby is covered for their ventures into the UK leagues, in London Two South-West and National League Division Two South respectively.
And Dempsey (pictured) admits that it is not an idle warning from the Rugby Football Union, although he believes it does not have to be catastrophic.
