Alice ends Max's reign

SARNIAN starlet Alice Loveridge brought Max Tupper's impressive unbeaten run in the Deutsche Bank Channel Islands Junior Top 12 competition to an end on Sunday.

Jersey junior Tupper had won back-to-back titles in this event and was looking to make it a hat-trick of wins.

Yet it was a case of so close yet so far as Loveridge (pictured) clinched the deciding match against the former champion 3-1 to secure overall victory with 22 points forcing Tupper into second place on 21.

Both players put on a real display in a tense opening set as they traded fast heavy shots loaded with topspin and fine direction to keep the spectators entertained.
