Alderney postman's inquest told of his depression

ALDERNEY postman Jamie Spandler had a history of depression, alcohol misuse and self-harming, an inquest into his death heard yesterday.

The 44-year-old (pictured) died following a difficult cliff-top rescue in February. He suffered multiple injuries after apparently falling to the bottom of Blue Bay.

The Court of Alderney heard that Mr Spandler died after suffering a cardiac arrest in the early hours of 19 February.

Jurat Colin Partridge said: 'Pending the results of the toxicology tests, Jurats will reserve the cause of death and adjourn the inquest.'
