BARRY BREHAUT is planning to set up a Condor users' group to discuss how services could be improved for Guernsey passengers.

The St Peter Port South deputy said he decided to take action after a recent trip to St Malo. He had to change boats in Jersey because there were no direct sailings from Guernsey in Condor's winter schedule.

Deputy Brehaut said that added a couple of hours onto his journey. But he said he did understand that it was more economically viable for Condor to concentrate on Jersey because it was the larger island, with more potential passengers.

'Condor have a tough job. The weather can work against them and mechanical problems have not helped them, but I have concerns that the timetable for the year ahead will mean people will use the service less.'
