IT ENDED in a point apiece for Wheway hopefuls Bels and Vale Rec, but this match was always overshadowed by an early injury to Rec's Simon Shaw.

The young defender went down after an innocuous-looking challenge but appeared to have broken his ankle in the process, a 20-minute ambulance delay following after only five minutes of playing time.

In fairness to both sides, they looked to play decent football throughout, but they did not really play at a high tempo after that injury until the later stages, when either side could have stolen the win.

As it was, it took 22 minutes of actual playing time for the first chance to come - and be taken - by Bels hotshot Craig Young.
