AN EGYPTIAN Welsh-speaking chef won a host of awards for Guernsey at an international cooking competition.
Saints Bay Hotel head chef Ashraf Elsergany entered the Welsh International Culinary Championships and walked away with the best in class for his moules mariniere.
The 40-year-old also won bronze medals for his open vegetarian dish and a Welsh beef dish and two diplomas for a lamb dish and open omelette.
In addition, Mr Elsergany also achieved the highest hygiene standards class award.
