JAMES MCLAUGHLIN made a brief but successful return to Guernsey roads on Sunday by winning the Velo Club's Reservoir road race.
JAMES MCLAUGHLIN made a brief but successful return to Guernsey roads on Sunday by winning the Velo Club's Reservoir road race.
The race was a team event and the brainchild of club president Gary Wallbridge.
A 'Dream Team' of riders who had been short-listed for the Island Games road squad consisting of McLaughlin (pictured), Josh Gosselin, Phil Touzeau, Matt Osborn, Tony Bleasdale, Leon Ogier and Alex Wilson were pitted against all others in the division one race held over seven laps of the demanding Reservoir circuit.
Good conditions met the huge field of 71 riders at the start and from the gun the race was fast with attacks repeatedly launched from the Games riders in order to soften up the others.
