Neighbours get hot under the collar over vinery burner

PEOPLE living in Rue des Goddards, Castel, have called for action to stop a vinery's new wood burner which they claimed was spewing thick black smoke and was unacceptably noisy.

PEOPLE living in Rue des Goddards, Castel, have called for action to stop a vinery's new wood burner which they claimed was spewing thick black smoke and was unacceptably noisy.

And Whispers Vinery director Mark Langlois (pictured) has accepted residents' criticisms that it was not exactly what had been applied for.

He insisted he was doing all he could to stop the noise and comply with planners, but remained adamant the new facility was quieter and more environmentally friendly than the former oil burner.

At a heated parish meeting earlier this week, angry neighbours said the burner, which sits 30ft back from the road, emitted so much smoke and fumes that they were forced to keep their windows shut.
