ALDERNEY has denied Derek Coates's claim that Blue Islands offered to contribute £100,000 to its marketing budget.

States chief executive Roy Burke (pictured) said a Blue Islands statement released earlier this week contained factual errors.

Mr Coates spoke out after it was revealed Blue Islands was pulling out of Alderney on 10 May. He suggested the States' decision not to allow his airline to compete with Aurigny on the Alderney-Southampton link had hastened a decision to drop its northern isle service.

Mr Coates also said he had offered to boost Alderney's marketing budget by £100,000 cash.

Mr Burke said no offer of marketing cash was received from Mr Coates.
