GENEVIEVE LANGFORD and Alice Carre from The Gallery in Mill Street visited Herm during the holidays for a special children's arts and crafts workshop.

It had an island castaway theme and the youngsters had to make the items they'd need to survive on the island if they were left stranded.

Several children met in the morning to go foraging on Fisherman's Beach for the things they would need, including driftwood, shiny pebbles and feathers. They then went up to the Herm school, where they made tiny rafts, sunhats, cardboard cutlasses and a pebble 'friend' to keep them company during the long castaway days.

The Gallery is the brainchild of Genevieve, who feels strongly about developing a 'creative community spirit'.

Alice currently runs the children's craft workshops at The Gallery on Saturday mornings, and she designs and runs the creative children's party workshops they offer.

They are planning more creative days in Herm, as well as the many they offer in Guernsey for both children and adults.

Last Sunday, it was that time of year again when guests at the White House Hotel clutched their bags to their chests and lifted their feet up off the floor ready for the barrage of chocolate-crazed children taking part in the annual Egg Hunt.

This year, one of many gloriously sunny days meant a large group of hunters gathered at the hotel.

There was a little change in the rules this year.

Rather than the child with the most eggs winning the prize, there were four special golden eggs to be found by four winners.

St Tugual's chapel is finally completed and open to visitors after almost six months of work. The church reopened on Easter Sunday to a packed house eager to view the renovations.

The roof and interior ceiling are in noticeably better condition, and the chapel is once more a bright and welcoming place for all who care to visit.
