FORGET the sour controversy over the lap counting, Guernsey's ever-stronger road cycling squad gave Jersey a pasting across the board in yesterday's inter-insular road race on the L'Eree course.
In the senior men's event over eight laps totalling 62 miles, the Sarnians filled the first six places and lost seventh spot only in a sprint finish.
Ann Bowditch took the women's honours from the visitors' Sue Townend and in the veterans Aaron Bailey inched a sprint finish with fellow GVC men Paul Brehaut, Paul Jackson and, among them, the top junior, Alex Wilson.
It was as comprehensive a team victory as the Sarnians could possibly imagine.
