THE watching Bailiff witnessed a minor classic as Garry Dodd retained his island championship men's table tennnis singles title in spectacular fashion on Saturday night.

Dodd (pictured) was simply brilliant in staving off a terrific late revival from Olly Langlois to win in six sets and leave Sir Geoffrey Rowland, Lady Rowland and a packed balcony audience full of admiration.

The left-hander is getting better by the year, his game obviously having improved under the tougher spotlight of UK Grand Prix competition he plays while at university.

For three sets he wiped the floor with the 17-year-old, who had no answers.
