Win for Watson

HEATHER WATSON got her campaign at the ITF clay-court Suez Open at Cagnes-Sur-Mer in France off to a terrific start yesterday.

The Guernsey star defeated Russian Valeria Savinykh 6-4, 6-2 in the first round to set up a clash with Maria-Elena Camerin tomorrow.

The Italian is ranked 120th in the world, just two places above 18-year-old Watson.
