SARK is a step closer to a smoking ban.

Chief Pleas voted yesterday to direct the Law Officers to draft an ordinance banning smoking in enclosed public bars, cafes and restaurants.

Conseillers also supported drafting an ordinance to license the sale of tobacco and tobacco products, and ban their sale to those aged under 16.

Medical Committee chairman Diane Baker introduced the report and said that the health benefits were well known.
