THE Island Games football competition descended into farce yesterday.

On the eve of the start of the 50-day countdown, Island Games football organisers made a hash of the initial early morning draw live on Isle of Wight radio, contravening International Island Games Association bylaws in the process.

Prompted by news of that contravention, by late afternoon the technical committee for the NatWest Island Games had raised questions about the draw carried out by the Isle of Wight FA and Games Organising Committee, and ordered a re-draw, which left Guernsey coach Tony Vance fuming.

Now, this morning, they released a further statement, saying that they may re-draw, or they may not, but will wait until after Monday to decide. They are thinking about it.
