Tenants John and Julia Singer invited Air Marshal Walker and his wife, Lynda, to the island after they had been invited to dinner at Government House.

It was the Lt-Governor's first visit to Herm after being sworn in in April, although he has sailed around it before.

He was shown over the island by Mr Singer and met the community's emergency services, visited the school and electricity station, as well as going to Shell Beach and Belvoir Bay.
