FERRY passengers travelling to Jersey on Saturday night were left stranded when the Condor crossing was cancelled.

Travellers waiting in the terminal to board the 7.10pm crossing were told the boat had been delayed. At 9pm Condor Ferries announced that the service had been cancelled - and asked passengers to queue up to be allocated hotels for the night.

Carol and Michael Ward from Jersey were in Guernsey for the day with their brother, Cavan, who had travelled to the Channel Islands from Leeds.

The group travelled on the delayed morning crossing and were astounded when the evening crossing was cancelled.

'It is diabolical,' said Ms Ward.
