GUERNSEY Physiotherapy Group has defended its staffing requirements.

An independent review of secondary health care in Guernsey found that the GPG and the Medical Specialist Group did not provide value for money.

The Sector report said that the GPG's staffing arrangements were generous and service requirements should be defined before the contract was renewed.

For a 200-bed hospital in the NHS, the report said that there would be around 17 physiotherapists plus assistants.

But GPG partner Denise Robilliard said, on behalf of the group's five partners, that its staffing on wards at the PEH was 12, including assistants.
