NEARLY a quarter-of-a-century on from her first efforts, Sarah Garbutt is still winning medals for Guernsey on the Island Games stage.

The tally now stands at a staggering 26 after Monday's team triumph, and she is guaranteed at least a silver in the women's doubles, having reached tomorrow's final with Renee Stuart.

That is a sign of her longevity in itself, Garbutt having partnered Renee's mother, Kathy, this year's team manager, to silver in the same event in Gotland back in 1999.

She also won bronze in her first Games in 1987 alongside Renee's father, John, and has helped her team to various medals in the 24 years since.
