THE premonition was slightly off the mark, but Tom Druce was not overly worried as he retained his 400m title in glorious fashion at Fairway last evening.
The 24-year-old (pictured) set a new personal best of 46.71sec., but held his hands in frustration as he discovered he had come within one hundredth of a second of setting a new Island Games record for the one-lap event.
He had dreamt he would run quicker.
'I'm a little bit gutted to be honest,' he said trackside.
