WE'RE just hours from the most important title in Channel Islands sport.

Even more important than winning a Muratti - yes it is, folks.

Topping the NatWest Island Games medals table is now the greatest achievement island sport can accomplish and as the penultimate day ticked into the last one at midnight, Guernsey sat on 30 golds, 10 clear of their nearest rivals - Jersey.

One of those Sarnian golds remains debatable as the organisers seem to be crediting the Sarnian women's time trial team with a gold medal when, definitely, they managed only silver.

But whether the lead is nine or 10, it makes little difference as one more gold medal rush is expected today.
